Foot Health Care

Services

I am a fully qualified L 4 Foot Health Practitioner with a degree and experience in District Nursing.

The aim of the care that I provide is to maintain and improve foot health specialising in Elderly Diabetic foot care. Foot problems are very common with 75 to 80% of adults have a foot issue with 18 to 30% experiencing foot pain. The elderly are more likely to be affected due to underlying health conditions.

The NHS spends £1 billion per year on foot care for people with diabetes/ In the period of 2017 to 2020, there were over 190 lower limb amputations per week. Up to 80% of diabetes related amputations are avoidable.   Diabetes is a condition that can lead to chronic foot problems such as ulcers and infections. Early detection and management of foot ulcers by professionals is crucial for preventing amputations.

A Foot Health Practitioner (FHP) provides routine foot care, treats common foot problems and offer foot care advice.

The demand for FHP is growing due to a ageing population and a rise in diabetes. In the UK 75% of the elderly experience foot issues and 4.9 million people have diabetes.
